Whether it’s planning for legislative testimonies to be aired on C-SPAN or touring across the country on Ozzfest, Marisa Williams is one diverse marketing and communications expert. From the White House and seedy health care scandals to interviewing entertainers and marketing houses to sell, her experience has grown with her years. Learning communication skills within the real estate market, Williams took her sales and interpersonal experience to L and L as regional sales supervisor, during which time she also enterted into the world of journalism.

After a cliff diving accident left doctors explaining to her that she would never walk again, Williams approached Mike Schaffer, editor of the local weekly Guardian Newspaper, part of the Heritage Newspaper chain. Though she had no formal experience, Williams started as an intern and soon proved herself valuable by breaking open front page scandals, garnering advertisors and quickly learning photography. With newfound skills, she accepted positions as staff writer and photographer for the Hillsdale Daily News, a Morris Communications Publication, and as co-editor of The Glass Eye, a regional music magazine.

Quickly filling publications with her reviews, photography and interviews, Williams’ side freelancing career soon took over, and Thorisaz Entertainment was created by Williams to handle all needs of the entertainment industry. Managing bands, booking shows, advertising tours, financial planning, travel services, catering, event production, public relations, marketing new music and creating press kits were added to her already growing services, and in 2002 she was asked to join the Ozzfest tour. Opprotunity knocked, and she answered with appearances on Insomniac with Dave Attel, HBO, Showtime, MTV, MTV2, VH1, C-SPAN, ABC, NBC, FUSE, Much Music, Disney’s “Pizza Wars,” IMAX’s “Hurricane Warning,” and in Universal productions, such as Lil Wayne’s “Bring It Back.”

After narrowly escaping Hurricane Katrina when living in New Orleans, Williams found her way back to her home state after suffering a heart attack caused by medication she had been taking for her cliff diving accident: vioxx. Still proving to be productive, Williams compiled her work into a series of independently published books, www.lulu.com/thorisaz , while healing. Though her first book was published in 2003, she published four books in 2004 and published over 25 books in 2005, which led to her decision to go back to school for writing.

Upon relocating to the Baltimore/Washington DC area, Williams accepted an internship at the National Association for Community Health Centers less than two blocks from the White House as a way to expand her skills of marketing and communications into the areas of her undergraduate degree, a mixture of pre-medical and pre-law classes to create an interdisciplinary degree in forensics. Williams proved herself amongst the country’s leaders, creating CDs for state legislators, planning legislative testimony that aired on C-SPAN and writing for the weekly health wire. Williams created the Thorisaz Views Quarterly publication as an outlet for her ongoing travel, health, undercover, investment and entertainment ventures, and She is currently working on her 70th publication and graduated with her Master’s in writing from the Johns Hopkins University.
